Zack has been dedicated to professional instruction since 2019. Before embarking on his instructional journey, he initiated his law enforcement career in 2016 as a Patrol Deputy for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. His entry into law enforcement followed a commendable 4-year service in the US Navy as a Boatswain Mate 3rd Class on the USS Makin Island LHD 8, stationed in San Diego. During his naval tenure, he underwent rigorous training and served on specialized teams such as the Small Craft Caliber Action Team (SCAT) and the Security Alert Team (SAT), where he gained proficiency in handling a diverse range of weapons, from 9mm handguns to 50 BMG belt-fed machine guns.
In his pursuit of excellence as a firearms instructor, Zack has dedicated countless hours to learning under the guidance of his father, Doug Greig. Together, they honed techniques with firearms and mastered the art of coaching others in their application. Zack’s commitment to continuous improvement led him to undergo training with esteemed instructors, including TEEX, Sheriff of Baghdad, and Rangemaster, among others.
Currently, Zack serves as the firearms instructor for the Brenham Police Department. Concurrently, he holds the position of a full-time detective in the criminal investigations division, where his responsibilities include serving as an active shooter response instructor and a field training officer.
